Directorate of Quality Assurance

The Quality Assurance Directorate provides leadership and collaborates closely with the Academic Registrar, Deans of Faculties, and Heads of Departments to ensure academic quality and standards are maintained and enhanced throughout the University. It also establishes quality assurance policies and oversees University-wide initiatives. Managing human resources within the directorate is another crucial aspect, including staff deployment, motivation, and appraisal. The directorate devises appropriate qualitative and quantitative measures and performance indicators for quality assurance and internal procedures. It monitors and implements changes to regulations and procedures to comply with requirements from relevant professional bodies. Additionally, the directorate manages the accreditation of the University's Academic programs, reviews departmental reports, and ensures compliance with quality assurance standards.

Directorate of Graduate Studies, Research and Innovation

The Directorate of Graduate School Research, and Innovation at Busitema University plays a crucial role in achieving the university's vision of becoming a center of academic and professional excellence in science, technology, and innovation. Directorate of ICT

The purpose of this office is to manage and provide ICT technical and support services to all academic and administrative units across the University. The office is headed by the Director, who is responsible to the University Secretary. The ICT Directorate aims to provide effective support to various functions within the university, including academics, research, outreach, and administration. One of their key goals is to ensure the proper and efficient use of ICT resources to benefit the university's operations. Legal Department

The Department of Legal Affairs is in charge of giving legal advice to the University Council, Management, and other University organs regarding the preparation of agreements, contracts, memoranda, and other legal documents. It gives clear oral and written interpretations of laws and other statutory instruments relevant to the University, as well as ensuring and facilitating the University's compliance with the specified policies, regulations, and guidelines governing employees, students, and administration

Estates Department

The mandate for the Estates Unit at Busitema University encompasses several crucial responsibilities. Firstly, they are responsible for the maintenance of all infrastructure and vehicles within the university premises. This includes both minor civil, mechanical, and electrical works, which can be carried out through either Force Account or contracting methods. Additionally, the Estates Unit plays a pivotal role in the development and supervision of capital projects and services, ensuring their successful implementation. They are entrusted with the safe custody of the university's assets, safeguarding valuable resources. Another key aspect of their role involves providing technical guidance to the University's Council and other departments, contributing their expertise to various decision-making processes. Lastly, the Estates Unit is involved in the planning of infrastructural projects, considering short, medium, and long-term needs to ensure the university's facilities are well-equipped for the future

Department of Gender Mainstreaming

The mandate of the Gender mainstreaming is to mainstream gender in the University functions of teaching and learning; research and innovations; knowledge transfer partnerships and networking and support services. This stretches to promote gender and equity responsiveness in the provision of goods and services to Busitema University community and stakeholders who include members of staff and students, University Council and Senate including their committees, consultants, vendors, service providers, and any other stakeholder of the University who engages in University activities, business, or transactions.  The Directorate achieves its mandate through application and utilization of gender related international, national, and institutional policies that protect and promote such group rights and interests.
 

Office of the Vice Chancellor

The Prime Purpose of this office is to give academic and administrative leadership to the University in order to ensure the effective management and efficient use of human and financial resources in accordance with the law, University Regulations, and Strategic Plan. The Vice Chancellor is the University's Chief Executive Officer. He is responsible for the academic, administrative, and financial affairs of the University and, in the absence of a Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor presides the ceremonial assemblies of the University and confers degrees and other academic titles and distinctions of the University, according to Section 31 of the University and Other Tertiary Institutions Act of 2001, as amended. Office of the University Librarian

By the nature of the establishment of Busitema University, Busitema University Library (BuLib) operates a decentralized library system that comprise of six (6) Campus Libraries of Busitema University located in Eastern Uganda. The Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2006 (UOTIA Act, 2001, Rev. 2006) mandates the University Library to develop, collect, manage, disseminate, control and coordinate all library and information services of Busitema University. The Library envisions itself as a Distinctive Signifier of Excellence in the provision of library and information services in Africa and will achieve this by signifying excellence in the provision of World-Class library services to support the intellectual life of the University. Through demonstrating quality and value in the provision of services and programmes, Busitema University Library is confident of exceeding users' expectations, and retain users' loyalty. The University Library subscribes to the core values of Busitema University including; Respect, Professionalism, Customer First, Innovativeness, and Integrity.

The University Library is an academic unit whose overall administration is vested in the office of the University Librarian who reports to the Vice-Chancellor. The University Librarian, Dr. Fredrick Kiwuwa Lugya is a member of the Busitema University Top Management and Senate.
